57. Baltimore Ravens -- Terrence Cody, NT, Alabama
This is pretty unexpected. Cody isn't really athletic enough to do anything but play nose tackle, so he'll start his career backing up Kelly Gregg, but Gregg's underrated career is coming to a close, so Cody could take that role soon. This allows Baltimore to keep the dangerous Haloti Ngata at DE.
58. Houston Texans (from Arizona through New England) -- Ben Tate, RB, Auburn
I like Tate a lot, but trading up to get him ahead of Montario Hardesty? Not so much of a fan of that. He's not a back I'd give up an extra pick for, but it wasn't a huge deal anyway. I would preferred someone more physical like Hardesty.
59. Cleveland Browns (from Dallas through Philly) -- Montario Hardesty, RB, Tennessee
The Browns just made up for that strange pick of Ward earlier this round by stealing Montario Hardesty. This should relegate Peyton Hillis to back-up fullback or only a goal line guy. I love how hard Hardesty runs and he should be an early candidate for OROY. Hardesty and Harrison should be a nice 1-2 punch.
60. Seattle Seahawks (from San Diego) -- Golden Tate, WR, Notre Dame
With Deion Branch and T.J. Houshmandzadeh both perennial underperformers (based on what they get paid), it's quite clear that the Seahawks need some youth and Pete Carroll watched Golden Tate destroy the Trojans this past season in a close loss for the Irish. I love the pick.
61. New York Jets -- Vladamir Ducasse, OG, Massachusetts
Here's another high project offensive linemen, but the Jets are making a statement to Alan Faneca (or Damien Woody) here. Ducasse can play RT or LG and the Jets know that Faneca is likely at the end of his rope. Ducasse is a project, but he is a superb run blocker who needs help in his footwork. Starting him on the inside would be the best thing for him.
62. New England Patriots -- Brandon Spikes, ILB, Florida
No linebacker has ever been drafted in the NFL after running a 5.0 40 yard dash. Brandon Spikes has broken the mold, and as talented as he is, and as fast on the field...it's not shocking at all. He's a very instinctual player and a superb hitter. New England doesn't seem to think Gary Guyton is going to be a long-term starter for them and Spikes next to Mayo will be dangerous.
63. Indianapolis Colts -- Pat Angerer, MLB, Iowa
This is a bit higher than I thought that Angerer would go, but I think it is a good selection considering Gary Brackett is on the downside of his stellar career. Brackett re-signed with Indianapolis, but Angerer may even start out on the strong-side before eventually moving in the middle. But when will Indy address the trenches?
64. New Orleans Saints -- Charles Brown, OT, USC
This isn't a serious need for New Orleans as Jermon Bushrod did a great job at left tackle in relief for Jammal Brown who is likely on his way out of New Orleans. That being said, either New Orleans isn't sold on Bushrod or they're planning on moving him to guard (which they won't do) so this is a puzzling move. Perhaps New Orleans is high on Brown and thinks that they can get some picks for Bushrod AND Brown. Strange pick, but definitely a steal.
