41. Buffalo Bills -- Torrell Troup, NT, Central Florida
...Over Terrence Cody, Linval Joseph, and Cam Thomas? Well maybe over Thomas is acceptable, but not Cody or Joseph. It fits a need, it's a guy who had a late 2nd early 3rd type of stock, but over those guys that's not a great decision. And passing on Clausen...the slide continues.
42. New England Patriots (from Chicago through Tampa Bay and Oakland) -- Rob Gronkowski, TE, Arizona
I'm not really sure why he was invited to the draft, because I was pretty sure he was going in round two, but regardless Gronkowski was impressive as a freshman and sophomore, but lost all of his junior year to injury. You can't fault the Patriots for finding a player of comparable stock at a big need on an offense that is going to be lacking weapons outside of Randy Moss this season, but they still have not addressed their pass rush at all. New England trading up for a weapon is not surprising at all. They still have plenty of time to address other glaring needs.
43. Baltimore Ravens (from Miami through Denver) - Sergio Kindle, OLB, Texas
I am actually shocked he did not fall further. Kindle may have to have micro-fracture surgery on his knee this season and could miss all of his rookie campaign. This is a long-term pick for Baltimore. He and Paul Kruger may be the eventual starters at OLB for the Ravens with Suggs future up in the air.
44. Oakland Raiders (from Jacksonville through New England) -- LaMarr Houston, DT, Texas
This is an interesting selection. Even with Terrence Cody and Linval Joseph available, Houston is one of the best d-tackles in the second round. He's a superb athlete and a guy who can get into the backfield, but I'm not sure he'll be able to anchor a run defense that badly needs an anchor.
45. Denver Broncos -- Zane Beadles, OG, Utah
Denver needed another guard to pair with Kuper, but Josh McDaniels is playing with fire now. He is refusing to add youth to the oldest defense in football.
46. New York Giants -- Linval Joseph, DT, East Carolina
If JPP is a bust, the Giants draft will be saved by Linval Joseph. He's a guy who can be a superb run defender in New York and pairing him next to Canty will allow the Giants to mess around with their defensive line. Canty is an excellent run defender, but a great pass rusher as well. Pairing him with Joseph will free Canty up to pin his ears back more while Joseph eats up double teams.
47. Arizona Cardinals (from Tennessee through New England) -- Darryl Washington, LB, Washington
Another guy I'm very high on. He could be a weak side linebacker in a 4-3, but in Zona he'll have the difficult task of replacing Karlos Dansby at ILB. My only question is whether or not Washington will be as good a blitzer as Dansby.
48. Carolina Panthers -- Jimmy Clausen, QB, Notre Dame
Carolina needed help at wide receiver and defensive tackle, but they couldn't pass on the awesome value that Jimmy Clausen provided. Matt Moore and Clausen should compete right away, but I think Moore is going to win the job this season, and he could easily hold Clausen off as long as he continues his stellar play from December 2009. The value here was way too much to pass up.
