After losing to the Celtics, the Knicks have dropped two games below .500 with Carmelo Anthony. The Knicks gave up a great deal of assets to acquire 'Melo. Most notably, they gave up Raymond Felton, Danilo Gallenari, and Wilson Chandler (their second, third, and fourth leading scorers) for Anthony and Chauncey Billups. The Nuggets since trading for 'Melo have done very well and are currently sitting in 5th in the West. Since the Nuggets hot streak and the Knicks recent tailspin, we have heard debates on PTI and SportsCenter on weather or not the Knicks trading for 'Melo was a good idea. hhmm...
OF COURSE IT WAS!
First off it's not like the Knicks were doing well without 'Melo. They were 29-26 and sixth in the East. They weren't making it far with the roster as it stood and they had an opportunity not many teams have, to secure a top 10 (arguably top 5) player mid-season. I hope New York didn't expect them to win it this year, they are spread too thin. So they weren't going to win a championship with or without 'Melo in 2011, but now they have 2 superstars in their prime to build around and a veteran point guard to rent out until they get Chris Paul or Deron Williams in 2012. As far as the Nuggets go, we'll see how well they do without a superstar when Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook slam on them in first round. Unless you're the Lakers, Celtics, or Spurs who have already proven you can win a title, you're team is absolutely better with Carmelo Anthony, so cut the shit.
