Uconn came into the Big East Tournament limping. They had lost seven of their last 11 games before rolling over DePaul and Georgetown in the tournament.
It's no secret who the star is here, it's Kemba Walker. Walker has scored 26,28,24,33 in Uconn's first four games and let's not forget his buzzer beater over pitt. It appears he is playing with a chip on his shoulder since he was not named Big East Player of the Year.
Louisville has been able to keep Kemba in check the two times they have faced off. In the first game Kemba went 7-23 and 2-10 from three but still scored 20 points in a 79-78 overtime loss. In the second meeting, a 71-58 Louisville win, Kemba struggled from the field again going just 3-11. He was able to finish the game with 16 points but nine of them game from the foul line.
Louisville (25-8, 12-6) will be going for their second Big East championship in three years. The Cardinals had to overcome a 16 point deficit against Notre Dame to reach the championship. The difference for Louisville has been their press. It caused Marquette fits as they held Marquette to just 29% shooting and it also helped them overcome a 14 point halftime deficit against Notre Dame.
Everyone Knows that Walker is the star of this game but he will need some help if they are going to win. Jeremy Lamb has been hot in cold in the prior two meetings against Louisville. In the first game he scored 21 points in the second game he failed to score. Connecticut is a very young team so it will be interesting to see how they handle Louisville's pressure. The coaching matchup is a wash as both are Hall of Famers. So it comes down to Kemba and can he do it one more time. I say why not. They have lost to Louisville twice, it is very hard to beat a team three times in one season. I think Kemba scorers 25 and Uconn pulls off a magical run through the Big East Tournament.
