Going Dancing: Big 12 Championship

A couple more tickets will be punched today to the big dance, this time from some of the big conferences. The Big 12, Big East and Mountain West will all crown their championship today and we are going to take a look at who will win.

No. 10 Texas vs No.2 Kansas: The Longhorns (27-6, 13-3) have never won a Big 12 championship but that could all change today when they take on the Jayhawks. Texas beat Kansas in Lawrence back in January, 74-63. In that game Texas was able to erase a 15 point deficit to end Kansas' 69 game home win streak.

Its safe to say Kansas will be looking for revenge. The Jayhawks (31-2, 14-2) have won four of the last five Big 12 championships, three of which came against Texas. With a win today the Jayhawks would have eight Big 12 championship, a record.

Marcus Morris, Big 12 Player of the Year
This game will come down to the impact of four players. The Morris twins for Kansas and Jordan Hamilton and Tristan Thompson for Texas. Marcus Morris is the Big 12 player of the year averaging 18 points and 10.7 rebounds. Jordan Hamilton leads Texas in scoring with 18.6 a game and is second in rebounding with 7.7. The last time Texas played Kansas he went for 17 points and 11 rebounds. Thompson, the Big 12 Freshmen of the Year will be asked to shut down the Morris twins, something he struggled to do the first time around. Back in January Thompson finished the game with just 12 points and 6 rebounds.

I think the Morris twins will be too much for Texas to handle. Add in the fact that Texas' offense has struggled of late and also the fact that Kansas is out for revenge and you have a Kansas win. Texas is 0-5 in Big 12 championship games, I think they go 0-6.
