Streak Over; Don't Respect It!

Pop the champagne 76' - 77' Tampa Bay Buccaneers. You still at least share the longest losing steak in the 4 major teams sports. Cavs win! Cavs win! (I wish they had lost). The Cavaliers defeat the Los Angeles Clippers 126 - 119 in overtime to avoid their 27th consecutive loss.

Longest Losing Streaks Among the NFL, NBA, MLB, & NHL

NBA: 2010 - 2011 Cleveland Cavaliers (26)
NFL: 1976 - 1977 Tampa Bay Buccaneers (26)
MLB: 1961 Philadelphia Phillies (23)
NHL: 1974 - 1975 Washington Capitals & 1992 - 1993 San Jose Sharks (17)

Note: Baseballs Cleveland Spiders lost 24 consecutive games prior to the National and American League format in 1899 (pure comedy this was a Cleveland team).*

On the flip side, here are some of Sports Best Streaks.

The Biggest Scumbags in Sports

No. 8 Dan Gilbert

Qualifications: Overall Jackass

I hate Gilbert, he has never won anything and is a wannabe Mark Cuban. Sitting court side with a button down does not make you Mark Cuban. Gilbert is on this list for one giant reason, the letter. After LeBron took his talents to South Beach, which was the right move, Gilbert ran his mouth in a letter than now makes him look like the dumbest shit in sports. Gilbert first used the words "cowardly betrayal" were stupid. The Cavs sucked and James knew it, hence their 8-43 record without him. He knew that Mo Williams and the rest of D league talent they assembled was not going to cut it. Gilbert could have kept his King happy but trading JJ Hickson but no Gilbert and the rest of that cracker jack management team thought Hickson's 11 points per game would keep James. James was the only thing that made people actually want to go to Cleveland. Honestly its by far the shittiest city in America, people from Cleveland wish they were from Detroit at this point. The best part of the letter, making Gilbert king boozoo was when he stated the Cavs would win a championship before James. HA! yea ok Danny boy, what free agents are you going to attract first off? Whats the selling pitch? Come to Cleveland, see are garage and ugly downtown. The Cavs will never win because the city of Cleveland NEVER wins!

Forsberg Returns (Again)

Nothing to see here....

Career numbers overrated or underrated, you decide? All I will say, he is absolutely a hall of famer. This is not even for his NHL work, in hockey the hall of fame involves your entire professional career, not just what you do in the NHL. Even though Forsberg is shy of many milestones for an offensive player in the NHL (115 points shy of 1,000), he is an Olympic hero (2 gold medals and the game winner in 98 for Sweden).

This latest return seems almost pointless in my mind. The Avs are not a true cup contender and his hunger to not allow injuries to end his playing days is at this point actually hurting his legacy. Last time he returned he had an unproductive mentoring role with Philadelphia and then was sent packing to Nashville to suffer another serious knee issue and exit unceremoniously. If he truly wants to help the franchise he claims to love, Foppa should skate around wave to his fans and then allow Colorado to trade him. He still has value just for his name alone and seat selling ability. Forsberg is by far the best bait the Avs could dangle to a contending club. A trade would let Peter attempt to obtain a third ring and increase his post-season lure, his NHL memories are mostly from his great playoff runs anyway. The Flyers were able to use the young guns they picked up for him and turn it into an Eastern Conference title, the Avalanche should and could do the same. His once proud franchise still has a long way to go before even sniffing there spot in the league a decade ago.

Double Amputee Gets Cut!!

This is Anthony Burruot, a sophomore in Orlando. Both his legs were removed when he was just a baby cause he was born without a shinbone in each leg. So why he is making news? Because he was just cut from the baseball team. The Orlando Sentinel is making a big deal about this, why? 23 other kids were cut as well. This isn't little league baseball where we try to cuddle these kids feelings, its high school and your 16 it's going to happen. How does he field the ball? Their was an article written down there that said opposing teams could not bunt against him because it was unfair to him. Unfair to him? What about the other team who can not bunt now, bunting is an important part of baseball. I mean this kid was not going to play in the MLB, so somewhere along the lines he was going to be cut. Yes the high school coach probably is now known as the worst human ever but you don't put a kid on team just for the hell of it. It's high school not little league again.

Friday's Picks

First I have put a new rule into place in my sports betting rule book. Rule no.1 was never bet against Tom Brady, rule no.2 was never bet older NBA teams playing back to back nights, rule no.3 is bet against the Cavs every night and rule no.4, which is the newest rule is bet against Uconn. Honestly I watched that entire game and almost broke my TV. They have one good player and a bunch of morons who don't get him the ball. Also it doesn't help the fact that their coach gets t'd up once a game. Thanks a lot Uconn. Anyways here's todays picks

Clippers -4 vs. Cavs: Rule number three, bet against the Cavs until they totally fuck up your life and you lose your house on them because somehow they beat a team. When is Vegas going to learn that this team is not going to be breaking their 26 game losing streak any time soon. The Cavs are 3-1-1 ATS lately but thats because their catching half a hundred for christ sake. When your relying on Roman Sessions to give you 20 your in trouble. The Blakers are young, their not some old group of guys overlooking the Cavs. No one wants to lose to these guys. Also are we at the point where we just stop calling them the Cavs? Seriously how many losses in a row does it take before we just call them that shit whole of a franchise in that shit hole of a city? Either way the Blakers take this game because they have Blake, and at this point he needs his own day.
Pick: Clippers

Lakers -3 vs. Knicks: When a coach tells the fans to stop chanting "We want Melo" because it distracts his players you have problems. The Knicks have been great against the spread all season going 27-13-1 in their last 41 games, but they play 0 defense and are spontaneously combusting at the thought of being trading for Melo. The Lakers are coming off a huge win in Boston and they will ride that momentum into the Garden and wipe the floor with Amare's googles. Side note anyone else as excited as me to see the Knicks become New York's second team once the Nets move in? It's going to happen, they can't get the free agents they want and their owner is in the upper pyramid of dumbest owners in sports.
Pick: Lakers

Season: 17-13-2

The Biggest Scumbags in Sports

No. 9 Brett Farve

Qualifications: Sexting on his cancer filled wife/sexual harassment/Overall pain in the ass

Some people would probably put Farve at the top of the scumbag list, I on the other hand know their are far worst guys in sports. First off Farve, the Wrangler man himself retires, un-retires and then goes all Vanessa Hudgens on us while in New York. The worst part of this all was that his wife was recovering from cancer. I mean Tony Parker's sexting and Brett Farve's sexting are on two different levels. Yea Parker did it, but Farve did it after his wife just battled cancer, and can I add we need to include Farve's wife in hottest women over 40 that most people don't know about. If the sexting wasn't enough he then had to go and deny it and make a huge deal about the whole thing and refused to talk about. He will talk about retirement for a goddam hour in a press conference but won't own up to showing his wrangler. Way to go Farve, At least Rodgers won the Super Bowl.

Jerry Sloan Resigns.

Hall of Famer Jerry Sloan has unexpectedly resigned as head coach of the Jazz. Sloan was the head coach in Utah for 23 seasons. He will go down as one of the most consistent coaches in NBA history and probably the best to never win a championship. In his 23 seasons with Utah, Sloan only missed the play-offs in 3 times, made 6 WC Finals appearances and 2 Finals appearances.

While this may be a sad day for basketball, it's a great excuse for me to make a top 10 coaches of all-time list. Stay tuned..
