Only The Finest From TNT

Saturday's Picks

Syracuse +2 vs Marquette: Both of these teams come into today's tilt needing a win. Syracuse has lost three in a row after starting the season 18-0. As for Marquette, they come in losers of three of four, their lone victory was by 30 points over DePaul. Marquette has been solid against the spread lately going 7-2, while Syracuse is just 4-5. Syracuse will need better shooting from their backcourt going 8-32 in their blowout loss to Seton Hall. This is the second time in a row that Marquette is a home favorite against a top 10 ten, they failed to cover against Uconn in their last outing. Teams have been shooting Syracuse out of their zone lately and Marquette has shooter. Darius Johnson-Odem can shoot and will have to have a big game if Marquette is going to get going again. Don't expect Syracuse to shoot that poorly again and look for them to tighten that 2-3 zone up today.
Pick: Syracuse

BYU -2 vs New Mexico: Jimmer Alert! Jimmer Alert!!! The 20-1 Cougars powered by Jimmer Fredette will take to the road to play New Mexico. BYU is coming off a 13 point victory over No.4 San Diego State on Wednesday. In that game Jimmer Fredette exploded for 43 points on one of the best defensive teams in the country. New Mexico (14-7) on the other hand has struggled of late, just 1-3 in their last four games. The Lobos have also struggled in covering spreads of late, going 2-7 in their last 9. New Mexico is not as good a defensive team as San Diego State and Jimmer dropped 43 on them, expect Jimmer to go have another big game today.
Pick: BYU

I hate fan voting.

I know the NBA wants to make sure the fans are happy, but this is a little ridiculous. Yao Ming!? I cannot believe this. I think Dirk should have gotten the spot over Melo as well, but that's not a big deal. I cannot even fathom the collective lunacy of people to vote in a player who hasn't been relevant in two seasons. Why the hell is he on the ballot anyway? He 's out for the season, which is good, because that means he wont occupy a spot of the roster for a more deserving player. Popovich probably give that starting job to Pau. I believe the coaches should select the entire roster, not just the reserves. That is the only way to ensure that it can be the best game possible. It's not going to happen though, so we'll just have to suffer through the has beens each President's Day weekend.

Where the stars sit

Crazy Ronaldinho Goal!!!

Thursday's Picks

You should be afraid of Dwayne Wade
Miami -3.5 vs Knicks: The last time LeBron and the Heat went into the Garden James dropped a triple double on the Knicks, going for 32 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists in a 113-91 rout. The Heat are 2-0 this year against the Knicks and 1-1 ATS versus them. Even though they are without the services of Chris Bosh I still love them. Why? Because Amare had to open his mouth saying no one is afraid of the Heat. LeBron was going to play well either way, because it's MSG and that's what he does, he puts on shows in the garden. But Wade may take this a bit more personal. Wade through two games is averaging 33 points against the Knicks. Amare will have a big game with no Bosh but Wade and LeBron get the last laugh.
Pick: Heat

Celtics -4.5 vs Portland: Despite all the injuries the Trail Blazers are four games over .500 and are playing well of late going 5-1 in their last 6. Since Brandon Roy has went LaMarcus Aldridge has taken over as the Blazer's main go to guy. The problem is Aldridge will have KG on him and the Celtics despite their age are still an excellent defensive team. The celtics are 6-1 in their last 7 but have not been great against the spread, just 3-3-1. The celtics also are coming off a day's rest and rested their started in their last game because it was against the lowly Cavs. Expect a fresh Celtics team.
Pick: Boston
